CCPS had the profound pleasure of hearing “Ye Banks and Braes” a traditional Scottish song performed most magnificently by Becky and Janet our Lathallan Scotland Exchange Students. Mr Cusick accompanied exquisitely on piano. This song is also known as “The Banks o’ Doon” and was written by Robbie Burns in 1791. There was a touch of Scotch Mist floating in a few eyes as the girls sang like beautiful Larks in the morn. It is about the pain of lost love, and for travelling Scots it would remind of home’s riverbanks and rolling hills in the mist. My middle name is MacDonald. These Exchanges offer our students another, broader view of life, and with imagination and creativity, a student’s life can be transformed with this notion of thinking beyond the immediate to a wider world.
