The School will be supporting our community’s members by attending the Caloundra ANZAC Day March on Saturday; and also the Dawn Service with School Captain, Amelia Skerrett, speaking at the Service. She will be accompanied by Captain, Nick Reynolds, and Head of Senior School, Mrs Stuart. The March will be to the Caloundra RSL with all schools invited, assembling at 9.00am in the Kmart carpark area. CCPS has a strong history in supporting ANZAC Day and the centenary of our ANZACs at Gallipoli will add further poignancy. Our ‘Welcome to the Term’ Assembly on Tuesday included our traditional ANZAC ceremony, with our Air-Cadets, Shaun Capps (Yr 11), Lachlan Lawler and Jett Johanson (Yr 10) laying the wreath at our flagpole. Students from Junior and Senior School Years presented their version of why ANZAC Day is significant in a powerful statement of the importance of acknowledging our history, our men and women who have given to their community, and the need to defend our institutions and beliefs. Nava MacDonald (Yr 10) who studies at The Conservatorium of Music, played two Clavinova (digital piano) pieces that were astoundingly complex and beautifully performed. These were performances of the highest quality, fittingly at this service to acknowledge our community’s service to the country.
