Our Bookweek Assembly on Tuesday may not have been a pageturner but it was fun to jump into. Year 12 senior Where’s Wally leaders (all dressed in red horizontal stripes and hat) conducted events; our visiting guests adorned in Elven green from Tokyo Shotoku Elementary enchanted us with their music and song; our little ones paraded in their dress the colours of the rainbow; Pirate Pete Maguire shivered timbers left right and centre (I was surprised he’d lost his blow up parrot from his shoulder); and Uncle Wally read an overly long excerpt from an extraordinarily long tale about Bilbo in dark despair finding a cold ring in the dark and being challenged to a Riddle Game. I hope the children enjoyed themselves in celebrating reading and the power of words.
