So Much To Tell You They say a week is a long time in politics (I’ll omit ‘educational politics’ for this piece). We are delighted to have commenced Term 2, racing, with Mrs Stephanie Evans appointed as our Wellbeing Co-ordinator. In an exciting development for the School and our children, Mrs Evans will be attending CCPS each Tuesday and Wednesday until after lunch. She will develop relationships within our community; and she will present at School Assemblies, visit classes, meet with children and parents individually, and introduce wellbeing related information and practices to the children, to staff, and to parents. “She has been a practising Psychologist for sixteen years and has lived on the Sunshine Coast for ten years. Mrs Evans has a broad range of experience having worked in: rehabilitation; child and youth mental health; child safety; school psychology and guidance counselling (within a school setting); helped form and clinically lead the Headspace in the Fraser Coast region; and owned and operated a private practice. Mrs Evans specialises in mental health assessment and treatment planning, with skills in an array of evidence-based and holistic therapies. Mrs Evans is also skilled in: crisis care; relapse prevention; and in proactive and preventative methods to enhance/maintain wellbeing. In her spare time Mrs Evans enjoys weight lifting, walking her dogs, reading, writing and playing music. With a music degree, Mrs Evans incorporates music into her therapy to assist with various issues including sleep, stress, anxiety, depression, study and more! She looks forward to meeting and sharing her passion for wellbeing with the School community.” As they also say, you win some, you lose some… Head of Senior School, Ms Stuart informed me of her decision to resign her position as Head of Senior School, and Senior Teacher of Visual Art. Her concluding day will be 20 May. I hope that the School community can combine for a fittingly memorable experience for her in recognition of her outstanding service to the students, parents and colleagues of CCPS. Staff will have a farewell event for Ms Stuart on 22 May at Kawana Waters Hotel at 6.00pm, and parents are also invited to attend. In her meeting to inform me of her decision she told me that she plans to engage in further study in the short term, to progress her career in education in new ways. You can imagine that this will be innovative and challenging, from Mrs Stuart. She wrote, “My time at Caloundra City Private School has been enjoyable and extremely influential in advancing my career. I am thankful and would like to pass on my gratitude…” We are extremely grateful to her for the profound work she has achieved for our community, at the heart of which are our students. She has been devoted to their care, and I am personally indebted to her for her generosity of spirit and willingness to do whatever was needed for the children’s care and wellbeing, in this demanding role. We will all miss her, and wish her many good things to come. Applications for these roles are underway and news around these extremely important appointments will be communicated in the near future. These changes also bring the best of times, with many new learning opportunities for all. We greatly look forward to our P&F’s Mother’s Day Breakfast function Thursday next week at the concourse of the Raelene Boyle Hall, commencing at 7.45am. It’s a lovely experience to be able to say with heartfelt gratitude to our mums how grateful we are to them for their love and care for the children. I hope to see you there.
