It’s wonderful to be able to greet Teachers back for their first day of planning and professional development on the Student Free Day Monday; but to begin the semester with whole School Assembly is even better, to see all the happy smiling faces of fine young people together. It’s one of the reasons why teaching and education are such a pleasure to do. I saw quite a number of Senior School classes on Day 1, and each has their own characteristics and powerful characters. It’s like seeing old friends again, quite a happy time. At School Assembly we were able to award the winning Track and Field House to Munns; and all of the Age Champions proudly received their medals on stage in front of their peers. Mr Maguire in his address spoke of the joy of getting to know each of these individuals and enjoying their quirks, foibles, differences and imperfections, all to be equally accepted and acknowledged. He spoke about positivity, being proud of yourself and individuality. We are a School that celebrates difference, originality, and achievement.
