Years 9 and 10 are embarking on their Outdoor Education camps this week. The tales and learning experiences that focus on communications, problem solving and reliance on having other team members working together to achieve a goal, may sound clichéd, but these skills and activities are fundamental to success in the real adult workplace. Outside of the decidedly unusual or protected Independent School environment, a place my wife and I have both worked in since around 1987, we hear the tales from our adult children about their diverse human relationship experiences (should I say struggles) from their worlds of work.
