One of our Parents’ and Friends’ great social events is our Welcome Disco to start the year (and also the Halloween Disco in Term 4) because it is a very happy relaxed social gathering with parents mingling and the children enjoying their dancing together. With the new Raelene Boyle Hall in full use, this was our first use of the Hall’s sports floor for the dancing and the new technology and sound in this great facility. The children had a ball on Friday night, and they were helped by many Senior School students assisting in various roles, including MC Bella Mullins, and Riordan Turner (Yr 12). Our parents and friends have supplied the funding for the wonderful stage, electronic Baby Grand Piano, and the technology for the Disco included the twin screens, terrific sound system, and large open spaces for plenty of movement. It was lovely to be able to talk with many new parents at the event, and for them to meet with our established parents. In other news from our Parents’ and Friends’ Annual General Meeting held last week, we have a new President, Scott Walsh, whose son, Aiden graduated from Year 12 in 2017, and Scott’s daughter, Taylor, is in Year 12 2018. P&F will be surveying our parents with a ‘Survey Monkey’ request for the best timing for monthly P&F meetings, including moving the meeting times so that a variety of people can attend. We know that many of our parents are both busy working; but also many parents with younger children cannot easily leave children at home to attend night meetings. The survey will also ask for ideas that our parents would like the School, with P&F, to explore for our progression. I look forward to working with Scott, and our P&F members, as we try to gain ideas and further social engagement for all our parents.
