Recent student achievements have featured at the start of this semester with some outstanding performances. Mikayla Coleman (Yr 12) completed her third Dan in Black Belt Taekwondo, making her only one in ten thousand who attain this qualification from those commencing with a white belt. This is an outstanding achievement, and Mikayla is potentially able to use this as part of her Gold Duke of Edinburgh program – we wish her well with this. Sarah Wilson (Yr 11) competed in three significant golf tournaments during the holidays and she won two of those by 15 and 16 shots. One of these victories was in the Far North Qld Open Ladies tournament, and to win this by such a margin is outstanding. Molly Rava (Yr 10) completed her practice Expedition for Silver Duke of Edinburgh qualification. Shaun Capps (Yr 12) secured two gold medals at the Qld Surf Titles in the team’s Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) event, and he will have the national titles next weekend. Tyra Stowers (Yr 11) will be competing ion the national school swimming titles in Darwin in September. Alex Innes (Yr 12) will be competing in The Netherlands in September in Beach Sprint and Flags events for Caloundra SLS. Maxine Innes (Yr 9) placed first in the Aust Teachers of Dancing, Brisbane, in Senior Hip Hop. We look forward to our Years 4 to 12 Athletics Carnival on Friday at USC where our top athletes can shine with their abilities, and all our students have the opportunity to learn skills and improve their athletic performances.
