Speech Night and the Junior School Presentations events were outstandingly entertaining. If you were at Speech Night you will have rejoiced in the brilliant skills of our musicians and singers, three of whom are studying with the Queensland Conservatorium: Hannah Stuart (Yr 9); Nava MacDonald (Yr 10); and Nicholas Reynolds (Yr 12). Nicholas was informed last week that he has secured a place at The Con in Jazz Piano. The singing of The Cure’s “Love Song” by Hannah, with Nava on piano, Joshua Moore on percussion (Yr 12), and Ella Moore (Yr 9) on bass, was stunning. Sophia La Salle (Yr 10) played beautiful violin in “Stairway to Heaven” and Handel’s “Water Music”. Nicholas Reynolds’ jazz duet with Mr Cusick and with Josh Moore was fabulous. Our Choir’s version of “Stairway to Heaven” with soloists Hannah Stuart; Natasha Irvine; Isabella Mullins (Yr 9); and included Annie Fraser’s stunning vocal conclusion; with Jordan Muir solo Lead Guitar and ‘The Band’, was challenging and included our happily graduating Year 12 ‘choral supporters’. It’s a lovely way to celebrate our performers and performances. Amongst all of this were the prizewinners. They included newly acknowledged Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Traineeship recipient Lachlan Kenny (Yr 12); Andrew Cusick’s (Yr 10) selection in the Queensland U/16 Baseball team; Natasha Irvine achieved First Class Honours in Level 5 Vocal Examination with ANZCA; Dan Reynolds as well as playing guitar in ‘The Band’ has been selected in Sunshine Coast Fire’s U/18 soccer team following from only his first season in the game.
