During the week Queensland School Principals received correspondence from the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA), Neil McDonald. The QSA is the state government’s body that manages education in our state, within the National Curriculum that has been established by the federal government. The Queensland Education Minister, John-Paul Langbroek, has commissioned a review of the OP System that establishes Year 12 students’ ranking for the purposes of gaining entry to university courses. The review has been completed by the Queensland Parliament’s Education and Innovation Committee (EIC), and by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and Mr McDonald writes, “…the reports…will provide the foundation for a revitalised, progressive and robust senior assessment system that will serve the young people of Queensland and draw on the professional expertise of teachers successfully into the future.”
