Alex attended the Queensland Junior Surf Life Saving Championships on 14-16 March 2014 at North Kirra on the Gold Coast. There were 121 competitors in the U14 Male Beach Sprint event. After 2 heats, a quarter and a semi, Alex made it into the final convincingly. Due to the postponement of water events because of surf conditions, there was a huge crowd at the sprint track. The atmosphere was exciting with lots of cheering. Alex powered through the final earning him a Gold medal making him the fastest “Nipper” in Queensland. Alex has been a nipper at Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Club for 7 years and this was an amazing way to end his final season as a nipper. Next year Alex will continue to do voluntary patrols on Kings Beach will also take part in senior competitions. This will give him the opportunity to compete at the Australian Championships being held at North Kirra in April 2015. Congratulations Alex! What an awesome achievement!
