About the Role

Caloundra City Private School is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Secondary Science Teacher, specialising in Chemistry and Biology, to join our vibrant and supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, close-knit school where every student is known, valued, and supported on their educational journey. Our one-class-per-year-group structure allows teachers to build meaningful relationships with students and their families, creating a personalised approach to learning that ensures no student is lost in the crowd.

Our current Science program caters to a small but engaged group of senior students. Our Chemistry class includes 16 Year 11/12 students, while our Biology classes consist of 7 Year 12 and 13 Year 11 students, all of whom study both subjects. We seek an educator who is familiar with delivering concurrent classes and is eager to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Delivering dynamic and interactive lessons in Chemistry and Biology for senior students, ensuring engagement and academic success.
  • Developing and implementing innovative, curriculum-aligned lesson plans and assessments that inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Providing personalised learning experiences and individualised support to help students achieve their best.
  • Building strong relationships with students and their families to support academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance best practices and contribute to the continual development of our science programs.
  • Engaging in extracurricular activities and whole-school events that enrich student learning and community involvement.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and providing timely feedback to students and parents.

What Were Looking For

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, with specialisation in Chemistry and Biology.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry and Biology at the senior secondary level, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • Familiarity with delivering concurrent classes and the ability to differentiate learning effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA senior science syllabuses, including endorsement and confirmation processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to student-centred learning and a passion for nurturing young minds.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the broader life of the school through co-curricular and pastoral care initiatives.
