I had a great time sharing career development ideas with the Year 10 this week. Topics included subject selection, future pathways in Year 11 and 12 and how to find out about courses. I covered the three main options available to Year 10 as they move into Year 11. These being the ATAR, VET via the TAFE in schools program and school-based traineeships. I invite parents and students to make an appointment to discuss these. I enjoyed discussing the following diagram with the students. It is my belief that a sustainable career is the one at the intersection of the four circles in the diagram: Year 12 The 2021 QTAC: Choose the Future Guides has arrived and will be distributed to Year 12 soon. These Guides are crucial for any Year 12 wishing to attend university in 2021 as they cover all the information needed for a QTAC application. Most importantly the 2021 Guide lists all courses for universities in QLD with the pre-requisite subjects and OP’s required for entry. Each Guide will be labelled with a student name and their LUI (Learner Unique Identifier) number, which is important when an application is commenced. An information evening for Year 12’s and their parents will be run Wednesday 16 July 6pm to explain this process further. Year 10, 11 and 12 Free InspirED virtual career expo 17 to 21 June.
