CCPS News - 11 June

I would like to begin with a huge thank you to the P&F who prepared COVID-safe cheese platters for all staff to enjoy at their staff meeting on Monday afternoon.  When you have to stay at school for a meeting, food always helps!
Incredulously we are approaching Week 9 of Term 2 already!  The time for me went slowly while we were in lock down and most of our students were at home learning but it is finishing quickly because our students are back at school.  Their energy and enthusiasm make CCPS the place to be.
As I said in last week’s newsletter, we believe we will be able to re-start a range of activities in Term 3.   Heads up on some planned events for Term 3!

Strategic Planning Parent Information Evening - Week 4, Tuesday 4 August

As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, the school Board and I would like to invite parents to an information evening to discuss the school’s strategic plan.  More details will be sent in a letter closer to the date, and we will ask for RSVPs for catering purposes and to ensure we have a suitable venue, determined by numbers.

Academic Expo - Week 5, Tuesday 11 August

We are planning an Academic Expo.  This will be an information afternoon/evening for students going into Year 9, 10 and 11 in 2021.  There will be an opportunity for students and parents to explore subject possibilities and talk to teachers and students currently engaged in the subjects.  Students from the all younger year levels are welcome to attend the subject exploration sessions to find out more about the Senior School.  Look out for the program that will be published next term.

Science Week  - Week 6, Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August

There will be lots of fun Science activities happening across the week including scavenger hunts.   We plan to run a Science Expo on Thursday, 20 August in the School Hall as the culminating event of Science Week and it will involve the whole school.

P&F Father’s Day Breakfast - Week 8, Thursday 3 September

We can’t wait to celebrate all our great Dads of CCPS.   More details will be shared closer to the event.

City Arts Twilight Concert: An evening of Music, Media, Design and Visual Art at CCPS - Week 9, Tuesday 8 September

In Term 3, Year 9 and 10 Photography, New Media and Art students will be studying Wearable Art.  We would like to give our students the opportunity to showcase their final wearable artworks at a special fashion parade during the City Arts Twilight Concert, early in Week 9.  Music students will also be performing throughout the evening to showcase their work from this year.  Also on display will be samples of student work from Media Studies and Senior Design. We may even ask the enterprise students to run a couple of stalls. This will certainly be an evening to celebrate the creative talents of our CCPS students. All will be invited.

Wishing all students the very best as they navigate the end of term busyness.  Thank you parents for your support of your sons and daughters, our students.
Warm regards,
Sherrie Cuthbert
