Sunshine Coast Council and Regional Developments

You may recall that our local Member of Parliament, Mr Mark McArdle, attended our School Assembly two weeks ago to present an award to Louis Whitney for his beekeeping work. Mr McArdle and I had a long conversation that day about regional developments for his electorate and surrounds; and Sunshine Coast Council (SCC) has also been proactive in promoting infrastructure and other developmental activities with which they are engaged with all levels of government. SCC has always been superbly supportive of our community, and Mr Tim Dwyer, Deputy Mayor, has always been vitally interested in our School community’s progression. We are very well served by our community leaders here.

Independent Schools Are Places Where People Learn About Compassion

On Monday I attended with Queensland Independent School Principals the first of three termly meetings of AHISA Qld (the Principals’ Association) at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane. Apart from the magnificent venue, the most poignant and significant discussion for me was a somewhat spontaneous non-Agenda item about how Independent Schools are places of very significant learning for Australia’s young people, in relation to the appalling crime that was perpetrated at Christchurch’s Muslim mosque.

Term 1 Music to Our Ears

The School is very proud of our musical performers, and perhaps this commences in Prep Music classes. Ms Fung and the students star in a newly produced video which is uber cute, and although it’s in a not quite finished version yet, it will soon be posted on our Facebook page for all to enjoy. They are a beautiful class to watch. Our page also has a fabulous video of Georgia Nicholson (Yr 6) performing “Mama Mia” superbly at School Assembly.

What Parents Want Survey

Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) has completed its four yearly ‘What Parents Want’ survey investigation in which CCPS parents participated. About one third of our parents completed the survey, and I thank you for your willingness to communicate. David Robertson the Executive Director of ISQ also speaks about the survey’s findings in a Podcast which you can listen to.
